Talk To Your City Council

July 24, 2007 | Category: skateboarding, politics

For those of you that may have missed it, the city council got into some heated discussions over the potential of building a skatepark near the Key Arena. As you may have noticed the Key Arena has a nice set of stairs, a sweet ledge, and has been home to many a video spots from various outlets. However, the beefed up security and women’s basketball games have made it a little trickier to skate the landmark spot.

A proposal is on the records for a skateboard park to be built in the Seattle Center, which would mean more skateboarding opportunities for those that live around the Key Arena, and potentially less bodyguard and cop dodging.

Some members of the council argue that putting in a skatepark maybe too “rowdy” for the neighborhood. I say that a skate park would make it a lot better and safer to skate near the arena. Plus, it would be within walking distance of this mexican (sir jorge).

Maybe it’s time to stop looking at youtube and write a quick letter to your city council and make sure that this park gets built.
